Updating this Old Wesley Hills, NY - California Ranch Style

The interior has been beautifully transformed — the very heart and soul brought to life. Now she needs a stunning dress to match!

Looking at the existing house, you can see that the protruding beams have disappeared. We will cut them flush with the outside wall. Since the roof will now be much thicker to accommodate new insulation, we will run new beams over the existing roof and the beams below it. These new beams will project out to the new fascia board, and the new soffit panels will be fastened to the bottom of the new beams.

Conceptually, our goal was to move away from the dated 1950s California Ranch style by eliminating the protruding beams and emphasizing the existing asymmetrical composition in a more pronounced, modern way.

The second image is just something we couldn’t resist doing :) While it’s a very different project altogether — a far more extensive renovation — we thought it was worth sharing.

The existing Wesley Hills house - we were entrusted with the task of creating a modern wow design.

The owners requested that we work within the existing volume, minimize disturbances to the interior, and keep the budget under control.

Wouldn't that be pretty cool?
